Ann Lorraine Hughes 1943-2016 Because in her life she was saintly, because in her heart she was pure. Her reward we are sure must be heaven and our grief we must try to endure. It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce the passing of a wonderful and spiritual person, Ann Hughes. Ann was born June 15, 1943 to the late Fred « Dutchie » and Theresa (nee Pineau) Hughes. Loving sister of Alice « Mickey » Roberts, Maurice Hughes and Evelyn Battah. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers James, John and George Hughes and her sister Mary Roberts. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Thursday morning, then transferred to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer for funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. No visitation by personal request. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Pat & The Elephant. Ann had many ups and downs in life after being stricken with polio at the age of 6 but she always found strength in prayer right up until her last breath. The last few years were especially a struggle as she dealt with losing her independent living and having more health problems arise. Again, she turned to her faith. Her family and friends were a big part of her life and she cherished many memories. She was always thankful for all the nursing staff who touched her life. With sadness we say goodbye to this wonderful person but know she has arrived where there is peace and no pain. She was a special angel on Earth and now in heaven. www.islandowned.ca
