Obituary On July 13, 2016, Michael passed away in Edmonton at age 75. He was a business instructor at NAIT, then President of MarTech College (23 years). In 2001 he won the Grand Championship in International Whistling. Known as “The Whistler,” he d his talents with palliative care patients for over 20 years. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Pat; son Jay Cooney; grandchildren Chandler and Brandon; sisters, Joanne Hunter, Nan (Ian) Douglas and brother, Greg (Ingrid) Cooney. He was predeceased by his daughter, Tara and parents, Ruth and Vincent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Basilica, 10044 – 113 Street, Edmonton. Private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Marian Centre, 10528 – 98 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, T5H 2N4.
