Louis James Bradley

Louis James Bradley 1923-2016 Louis Bradley of Millcove passed away at the Prince Edward Home surrounded by his wife, Patricia; sister, Mary; and his family of nine children. With the care and comfort of his family and spouse, the staff of the Prince Edward Home and its facilities, and the attention of his pastor, Father Keith Kennific, he passed on peacefully. He leaves to mourn his wife Patricia (nee MacDonald), his family Gerald (Mona – deceased), Beth (Walter) Mullen, Mary (Darwin) Bradley, Helen (Robert) Wellman, Anita Bradley, Jean (David) MacKinnon, Patrick (Lynne) Bradley, Florrie MacLeod, and John (Farley) Bradley. He is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer Bradley, Jonathan, Rachael and Brad Mullen, Kathryn Woods, Sophie and Frank Wellman, Charlie McKinnon, Justin and Gregory Bradley, Ella and Anna Mae MacLeod, sister Mary Peters (Phillip Keating); sisters-in-law Helen Turner, Peggy Bradley, and Helen Bradley; and son-in-law Mark MacLeod. He was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Vincent, and sister Norma. Louis joined WWII on his 18th birthday and served in Canada and overseas with the Royal Canadian Air Force for the next five years. He returned to his family farm in November 1945, and then purchased his own farm in Millcove where he used his expertise in several areas including growing seed potatoes and raising pure bred Holsteins. Sadly, in 1967, fire destroyed the barn, livestock, and machinery. Louis then studied small engine mechanics at the Provincial Vocational Institute and started up his Bradley Air Cooled Engines business; an occupation he enjoyed for many years. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Thursday, then transferred to St. Michael’s Church, Corran Ban for funeral mass at 4 p.m. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday from 1-3 p.m. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the QEH Foundation or St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery Fund.
