Gordon Murphy Former Owner of Murphy’s Furniture Store, and former Pembroke City Councilman Suddenly at the Pembroke Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side, on Monday June 6, 2016 in his 83RD year. Gordon Murphy of Pembroke, beloved husband of Phyllis Murphy (nee Ferguson). Loved and cherished father of Alan Murphy (Barbara), Wakefield, Ann Whelan (Fergus), Trenton, Peter Murphy (Shelley), Toronto, Paul Murphy , Mary Ellen Murphy (Michael Poloni) both of Ottawa and Mark Murphy , Aylmer QC. Loving grandfather of Kate, Jacob, Quinn, Tara, Clare, Jeff (Cara), Jackson, Bridgid, Cora (Chris), Carmen, Matthew, Laura and Ryan and great grandfather of Shay, Sloane and Ayden. Dear brother of Eileen Daly (late Dennis), Margaret Simpson (late Robert) both of Pembroke and predeceased by his brother Willard Murphy (late June). Gord was an avid golfer and a handyman (without a hand). His laughter and good humour were contagious. Gord was devoted to his family and his community and once in a while enjoyed a wee nip of Scotch. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Friends are invited to join Gordon’s Family for a celebration of the Funeral Mass on Thursday morning June 9 at 11 o’clock in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Lourdesview Drive, Pembroke followed by cremation. Interment will take place at a later date. In memory of Gordon, donations to the Marianhill- McClusky Center or the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
