Peacefully passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Eleanor Weir (nee Robinson) for 59 years. Dear father to Ian (Laura) and Gordon (Jane). Cherished grandpa of Sarah and Aaron. Dear friend of many years to Susan (the late Bill) Harrison and family. He will be missed by his extended family in Scotland where he was known as an avid cyclist. Bob cherished his time with family and friends at the cottage in Muskoka. He was a long term member of the Burlington Golf and Country Club, Bob was a professional engineer and past president of the Stanley Works Canada. Special thanks to Dr. Wilson and the palliative care team at Joseph Brant Hospital. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 4-8 pm where a Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel onTuesday, June 21 at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow. A private family interment at a later date. If desired, donations in memory of Robert may be made to Joseph Brant Hospital.
