KNOX, Constance ‘Connie’ Winnifred, My very full life came to a peaceful end on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Hillsdale Terraces, my home for the last five years. I feel so blessed to have reached my 96th year. I was born in Accrington, Lancashire England on June 4, 1920 to Emma Irving and George Almond. My family immigrated to Canada in 1924. Our lives changed drastically with the death of my father when I was 4 years old. My widowed mother and my grandmother raised us until their passing. We did not have material things but our home was filled with love, laughter and singing. At the age of 18, I became responsible for caring for my three younger siblings. Life was difficult but with our strong faith and determination we survived. I married the love of my life Harry Knox (predeceased 1991). We had three daughters, Marie-Michele (predeceased 1947), Heather and Christine (predeceased 2014). I had a very busy and happy life raising my family, working at Eaton’s, socializing with friends, enjoying special times at our cottage on Bennett Lake and travelling to many places in our beautiful world. I am survived by my loving daughter Heather and her husband Ron, grandsons Zach (Lauren), Luke and Paul (Candace), granddaughter Amanda (Jim), son-in-law Peter, great grandson Riley, my sister Dorene and many nieces and nephews. I was predeceased by my brother George and sister Teresa. I extended my gratitude and thanks to my family, friends and the wonderful caring staff on Vineyard View at Hillsdale Terraces, who have helped to make my final stage in life’s journey a special one. I am now on to my next adventure! God bless. I would like to express my final thoughts through words of Steve Maraboli: Live your truth. Express your love. Share your enthusiasm. Take action towards your dreams. Walk your talk. Dance and sing to your music. Embrace your blessings. Make today worth remembering. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of life for Connie at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby (N of Hwy #2) 905-443-3376 on Friday January 29th, 2016 from 2 pm until time of service in our chapel at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Connie’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
