BERNHARD LOYD BOEHR, beloved husband of Doris Boehr passed away in Lethbridge on Monday, June 27, 2011 at the age of 91 years. Ben is the loving father of: Douglas (Margaret) Boehr (both deceased), Carol (deceased) (Frank) Doerksen, Eugene (Cheryl) Boehr, Lloyd (Debbie) Boehr, and Lindsey (deceased) (Carol) Boehr. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also predeceased by a granddaughter Breanne Boehr. Ben was born in Langham, Saskatchewan on April 21, 1920. He helped in the family farm, being the youngest of seven siblings (all predeceased). He helped with the chores and field work in the ‘Dirty Thirties’. On October 3, 1945 he married his sweetheart, Doris Mierau, living on his Dad’s farm until the fall of 1946 when they moved to Abbotsford, BC. There they lived for 3 years and he worked at carpentry, a berry cannery, and a brick plant. Then in 1949 we decided to move to Lethbridge. He did carpentry work and soon was made job Superintendent for Laird construction. Soon he decided to go on his own building houses and then Behlem steel buildings around Lethbridge and area and as far north to Slave Lake and into BC for many years with the help of his sons. Later in life he kept himself busy building bird houses and then for a new purpose in life started knitting toques for family and people in Africa suffering from Aids. Friends may meet with the family at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 St. N., Lethbridge prior to the graveside service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11:15 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.
