Obituary The family of Dr. Bryan E. McPhail is saddened to announce that he passed away on December 11, 2012. Bryan was born in Edmonton on November 2, 1946. He grew up in the Belgravia area and attended local schools. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a BSc. Med. in 1966 and a Medical Doctorate in 1970. Dr. McPhail practiced family medicine at the Calwood Medical Clinic in Edmonton and was affiliated with the Grey Nun’s Hospital. Dr. McPhail had a life-long passion for learning and the discipline of medicine. He had many faithful patients and staff who will miss him dearly. He also loved music, travelling and spent many wonderful years at Pigeon & Moose Lake. Bryan is survived by his son Bryan W.J., and daughters Brenda and Ashley. He will also be missed by his stepbrother John (Emily) Smith and stepsisters Margaret (Cal) Gogo and Jennifer Smith and his special friend Dr. Susanne Mausolf. Bryan is lovingly remembered by many friends and relatives, especially his cousins Stan (Susanne) Kaufman, Bob (Valerie) Kaufman, and Evan (Margaret) Cardiff and their families. Dr. McPhail was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Smith, his father Dr. J. E. McPhail, his stepfather Dr. E.S.O. Smith, his aunt Kay Cardiff and his favorite uncle Reesor Kaufman. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Connelly-McKinley Downtown Chapel, 10011-114 St, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Grey Nun’s Hospital in Edmonton.
