Zachary Elroy (Roy) Mundorf
Roy Mundorf, age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 5, 2025 at the Hanna Long Term Care Centre.
Roy was born August 10, 1932 in Stettler, AB. to Zachary and May Mundorf, the youngest of 10 including 2 cousins raised with the family.
Roy was predeceased by his wife, Shirley in 2023, his parents, Zachary (1957) and May (1976) and his siblings except for surviving sister, Issie.
Roy leaves to mourn his passing daughters Bonita (Dave), Rosalie (Bevan), Elaine and son Mark (Kathleen), 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sister Issie, sister-in-law Elvina, nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and numerous friends.
As a young man, Roy pursued a career in the oil patch working for various companies and locating to several oil fields, including Big Valley, Ferintosh, Lodgepole, Black Diamond, Longview and ending his career in Munson. After he retired from the oil patch, he enjoyed working on Ron Stanger’s farm.
His passion for hunting and fishing resulted in many enjoyable experiences with family and friends, continuing to accompany his son Mark until the fall of 2022.
Roy and Shirley loved to explore the world (Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean) on many trips and cruises including a special trip in 2010 with brother-in-law Eldon and his wife Fern to South America that included a cruise to Antarctica to visit the penguins.
Roy was a man of great wisdom, of common sense, fair, always welcoming, non-judgmental, calm, full of love, and always wore a huge smile.
He was a man of strong faith that strengthened him throughout his life’s journey.
Roy was happy spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love and kindness to all who knew him will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunshine Lodge, Hillview Lodge and Hanna Long Term Care Centre for their excellent care in his last years.
Funeral services will be held at the Munson Community Hall on Saturday March 22, 2025 at 1:00 o’clock. Interment will follow at the Munson Cemetery.
