Wanda Lee Luker (Compton) Obituary
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Wanda Lee Mary Luker (Compton) on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the tender age of 49. She was a spouse, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, and a friend to many.
Born in North Sydney on October 15, 1975, she was the daughter of George Compton (Cheryl) and the late Marguerite Leblanc Compton. Along with her father, Wanda is survived by the love of her life, Clive Kirby; children – Blayne (Laura Jean), Austin, and Paige; granddaughter, and the apple of her eye, Reynah; siblings – John (Wanda), Donna (Sheldon), Francis (Emily), Laura (Reg), and Raymond (Helen); close family member – Mary Ann Sampson “Meme”; her bestie – Louise Andrea; her two cherished cats – Chella and Steve. She is further survived with her Platinum Fitness family, which she adored, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her mother, Wanda was predeceased by her first husband, Blaine Luker; her second spouse, Wally Pendergast, as well as many aunts and uncles.
Wanda, it seemed, always had a smile on her face. She brimmed with joy and vitality, finding pleasure in the simple, everyday pleasures of life – from going hiking, to hanging out with friends by the pool with a crisp cooler, to watching love stories on the W Channel. She loved her job at Platinum Fitness, both working and working out there at the gym, and simply living a healthy, active lifestyle. She enjoyed shopping and travelling, especially to Disney World. She looked forward each year to Halloween and Christmas and the traditions that came with those special times. She loved spending time with Clive – going for drives on his bike, travelling, and going to the movies. He was her boo and she was his. She loved her children and family so dearly, especially her granddaughter Reynah, whom she idolized and treasured. She will always be remembered for the kindness and happiness she brought to anyone around her.
The family would like to thank the nurses and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, especially in the An Cala Palliative Care Unit for taking such good care of their dear Wanda through her time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in memory of Wanda to the Cape Breton Cancer Center.
As per Wanda’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Church in Bras d’Or at a later date in February. Online condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page.
