Obituary of Sue Ann Ehrlander
The sudden passing of Sue Ann (MacDonald) Ehrlander occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 9, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB on May 9, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Donald Sydney MacDonald and “June” Dorothy Helena (MacCollum).
Sue is survived by her husband, Ralph Erik Ehrlander of 50yrs and daughter, Sabrina Ann Ehrlander (Michael).
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Catherine; aunts, Viola Ferris, Joan Rossley (Robert) and Leona Cox (Allan) and uncles, Ronald MacCollum (Louise), Raymond MacDonald and Douglas MacDonald (Alice).
Sue was born in Saint John, NB and it has always been home. She moved with her parents all over Canada as an Air Force BRAT and lived in Ontario, Quebec and finally New Brunswick with her family. Anyone who met her became family and were always welcome in her home.
She was a passionate volunteer and gave of herself to many organizations: The Ninety-Nines Inc. International Organization of Women Pilots where she wore many hats, one organizing their National Convention in Halifax and the terminus of the Air Race Classic in Saint John, St. John Ambulance as an instructor trainer, the IODE, a Mary Kay consultant, Look Good Feel Better, Artistry with Amway as a colour consultant, the Newcomers Group, Meet and Greet for the cruise ships, volunteer at the regional hospital and a volunteer patient for Dalhousie Medical School. Her calendar was always full.
Her true love was flying and travelling. She received her pilots license in the early 1970s and met the love of her life at the Saint John Flying School. They were married not long after and kept on flying and travelled the world together from Alaska to New Zealand.
The family would like to thank Extra Mural, the wonderful staff of the Saint John Regional ER and 4CN for all their dedicated care and hard work.
A Celebration of Life will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1400. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by visiting Sue’s obituary on the Brenan’s website.
