It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Shawn Donald Matheson, 51, on Monday February 24, 2025 in Cranbrook, BC. He was born on October 19th, 1973 in Halifax, NS to Joy Middleton and Terrance (Terry) Matheson. Although Shawn was born and raised in Nova Scotia, it is in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that he truly found his home. He loved to be outdoors, with his 2 dogs Echo and Nala, dad’s girls. He was always happier to be outside camping and exploring nature. He loved his family and his home and was proud of the life he had made in BC with Chrissie. Shawn worked in the fire safety industry under his amazing boss, friend, and family Jeanie.
Shawn is survived by his loving parents, Joy and Terry (Karen). His children Dani (Bill), Logan, Colton, and step child Cassidy. His brothers Trevor (Melissa) and Michael (Jill), his sister Alanna (Andrew), and Elyse (Ashley). He leaves behind his loving partner of 9 years, Chrissie, and his stepchildren, Jessica, Ryan, and Katelyn, as well as his 2 furry companions, Echo and Nala. Shawn also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and close friends.
He was predeceased by his paternal Grandparents and his maternal Grandparents.
Funeral services will be privately held.
Memorial donations can be made in Shawn’s name to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
