It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Saveria Sgambato, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Peacefully, on January 24th, 2025, at Extendicare Oakview Place, Saveria Sgambato passed away surrounded by her family. Saveria was born on April 9, 1941 in Visciano, Napoli in Italy.
Saveria will be deeply missed by her husband of 55 years, Espedito Sgambato and their children Nicola (Vivian) and Melida (Daniel), grandchildren (Alessandro and Leonardo), along with extended family and friends, both in Canada and Italy.
Saveria has had a lasting impact on all who knew her. Over the years she proved how selfless a mother can be. Saveria’s love was most often shown through her cooking, always ensuring that no one ever left hungry. Her memory will be cherished forever.
Saveria’s final chapter was spent at Extendicare Oakview Place where she was embraced by a wonderful team of caregivers. Her devoted family visited daily to see that beautiful smile on her face. Thank you for the laughter, the learning, and the endless memories that will always be part of us and that we’ll cherish forever. The family extends a special thank you to all the caregivers at Extendicare Oakview Place for the kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to our mother over the years.
Riposa in pace mamma. Your love, laughter, and strength will forever live on in our hearts. Ci mancherai.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday February 1st at Holy Rosary Church at 510 River Avenue. Condolences at 9:00 am and mass service at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
