Ronald Barnard Poole
May 20, 1941 – April 20, 2025
With heavy hearts, we share the sad news of the passing of our dear husband, father, uncle, papa and friend, Ronald Barnard Poole, on Sunday, April 20th, 2025, after a determined battle with cancer. Just one month shy of his 84th birthday, he still made his wife and family members laugh and smile to the very end with his antics. Ron was a ray of sunshine in our world, whose laughter could be heard across a crowded room. He loved sharing stories with anyone he met. Whether stranger or friend, he made you feel like the most important person in the world.
During his healthy years, he travelled near and far on his bike around the town of Norwich and as well as many kilometres on the nearby concession roads. His family and faith meant a lot to him, and he devoted his time and energy to both. If someone was in need, he would drop everything to help out. Gathering for family reunion picnics or holiday dinners brought him immense pleasure as he got to enjoy three of his favourite things in one place- food, family and friends. Much to his delight these last few months, he was allowed to enjoy extra cream in his coffee, donuts and pie after 30+ years of attempting to keep his diabetes under control.
After labouring for most of his adult life on the farm while still working full-time at Canadian Blue Bird Bus Company as a forklift driver, he found enjoyment during retirement in the simple things like watching his beloved grandchildren grow or putting the last piece in a challenging jigsaw puzzle. Even though family and friends are grieving that the world is a little less bright with him gone, they take comfort in knowing that he is filling heaven with his laughter and spending time with Jesus who he couldn’t wait to see.
Ron is survived by the love of his life and wife of 50 years Helena [Burlock] Poole, his children Melissa (Bradley) Huddle, Amy (Cephas) Panschow, and Andrew (Laura) Poole. He was a proud papa to 7 grandchildren Becky and Daniel Huddle, Alice, Lucie and Kate Panschow, and Alexis and Spencer Poole. He is predeceased by his mother Gladys Poole, his father George Poole, his sister Marie McLellan and her husband Jim McLellan, and brother-in-law Winston Burlock. Ron’s sister-in-law Georgene Burlock and many nieces and nephews will miss him dearly.
Family and friends will be received at the Arn-Lockie Funeral Home, 45 Main Street West, Norwich, ON 519-863-3020, on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 10:00-10:45 A.M. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Ralph Byma and Pastor Andrew Masters to officiate. Interment at the Norwich Gore Cemetery. Donations may be made to Care Partners-VON, London Health Science Centre or the Grand Valley Church.
