With heavy hearts, we announce the death of our much loved Father and Poppa, Rolly MacDougall at the age of 92.
Son of the late Donald MacDougall and Mona Russell. Predeceased by his loving wife, Beulah Cotie (2010). Survived by long time companion, Marshallene (Howard) Campbell. Dearly loved by his children Doug (Jane), Terry (Janey) & Jill (Charles Taylor). Proud Poppa of Matt (Jody), Josh ( Jenn), Jordan (Tara), Liana (Josh), Jennifer (Kevin), Jackie ( Chris), Jaime (Kyle), & Jenna. Great Poppa of MacKenzie, Ryan, Carson & Brooklyn Barr, Dryden Frobel, Raelyn & Gavin Pape, Hudson Moore, Ella Richardson, Addison & Olivia MacDougall, Jameson & Cole MacDougall, Lexie, Nolan & Mila MacDougall, Finley & Mac Dagenais. Also survived by sister, Ruth Schock (Bruce) & Rita Shirley (late Dr Sam) and special son in law Abby McBane. Predeceased by brother, Chum (Charlie), (Marilyn). Also predeceased by sisters & brothers in law, Iva & Athol Dale and Bob & Myrna Campbell. Survived by many nieces & nephews.
Rolly was a hard worker all of his life in the lumber camps, trucking, Hilton Mines and farming. He forged this strong work ethic in his children. He had a quick temper but a gentle heart. He loved horses and farming. He worked every day, on the farm, until the age of 88. He loved his large, loud family and hearing what everyone was up to. Rolly was the epitome of true grit. He was fiercely independent and despite failing health, attended family functions till the end.
In keeping with Rolly’s lifelong wishes, there will be no formal service. There will be an informal afternoon celebration to honor the man he was, at his house on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 2 pm.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hayes Funeral Home. If desired, donations can be made to the Shawville Arena Fund, c/o Pontiac Agricultural Society, 215 Lang St, Shawville, Quebec J0X 2Y0 or the Shawville United Church.
