Robert Walter « Rob » Tupper
1962-2025
It is with deep
sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Walter « Rob »
Tupper, 62, a devoted husband, father, brother, artist, mentor and
talented drummer. Born October 29, 1962, he passed away in the Valley
Hospice on January 21, 2025.
Despite
Rob’s lifelong illness and many challenges, Rob loved his
wife, affectionately known as « Bubbit », Belinda Sue, with
whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership that only
grew stronger as the years passed. They were married for 38 years and
together, they built a home filled with warmth, love and treasured
memories in Scots Bay.
Despite
life’s complexities he was a proud and loving father to
Mindy (Stephen) Benjamin, Travis (Suzie) Fougere and Robert
« Robb » (Emma) Tupper, each of whom he supported and adored
with love that was hard to put into words. Rob is also survived by his
sister, Sheila (Wally) Myalls and brothers, Alan (Junie), Brian
(Heather), Gerry (Darlene) Vidito, and his special brother, Rick
Stevens. Their love created bonds that will never be broken and will
be forever cherished.
Rob was the proud
grandfather to Aziz and Maggie Benjamin; he will be dearly missed and
was affectionately known as Jeddo.
Rob is predeceased by
his loving parents, William « Bill » and Min Tupper,
grandparents as well as cherished aunts and uncles. Rob grew up in
Aldershot and Centreville and attended Aldershot school, CDHS and
NSCC.
Rob dedicated much of
his career to the Department of Community Services, where he was a
tireless advocate for those less fortunate. Known for his creative
problem-solving and compassionate heart, his colleagues often said,
« If anyone could fit a square peg into a round hole, Rob
could. » His work touched countless lives, leaving an enduring
legacy in the community.
A gifted drummer,
Rob’s passion for music was like the rhythm that guided his
life. His talent brought joy to all who heard him play and those who
played with him, and his legacy will live on in the music he loved so
deeply.
Rob was also a
creative artist and woodworker whose passion for building often led to
new decks and other home projects. Whether crafting something
functional or decorative, Rob’s handiwork left a mark on the
places and people he cared about most.
He shared a special
bond with his dog, Teddy, who was a source of companionship,
entertainment and joy. Rob’s voice could often be heard
calling out, « That’s enough! No more barking,
Teddy! » – a phrase that will forever bring smiles to those who
knew him.
Rob’s
kindness, humor, creativity, and dedication to his family, friends,
and community will forever be remembered.
Rob’s family
would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Valley
Regional Hospital, Dialysis Unit and Emergency Department, as well as
the Valley Hospice for providing comfort and compassion for Rob during
his years of care and especially in his final days.
A celebration of
Rob’s life will take place in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville, on Friday, January 24th from 4-6 p.m. to honour his
remarkable life. In keeping with Rob’s most treasured
things, the reception will contain nuts! In lieu of flowers, the
family kindly requests donations be made to Valley Hospice Foundation,
reflecting Rob’s compassion and commitment to helping others
during their time of need. Arrangements have been entrusted with his
long-time friend, Greg White, and his colleagues at the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
Rest in peace,
Rob, you did good!
You are deeply loved and will be
missed beyond measure.
