Mildred “Millie” Vandebor of Walkerton passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, at the age of 95.
Mildred was born in PEI on September 3, 1929, to John and Ada Costain. She met and married her husband of 71 years, John Vandebor. After spending time in Toronto and then Greenock, Millie and John bought a farm in Paisley. Here the family settled for over 40 years. In October 2023, they retired to Walkerton.
Cherished and loving mother of Connie (Jim) Lemont of Mildmay, Christine Allen of Hanover, John (Barb) Vandenbor of Walkerton, Dan Vandebor of Paisley, Ruth (Rod) MacDonald of Lurgan Beach, Kim (Paul) Paquin of Kitchener, and Marilyn (Brian) Hanes of Pennsylvania. Dear grandmother of Sherife, Michael, Tammy, Howie, Jared, Dallas, Nathan, Aaron, Joseph, Dustin, Elisha, Devin, Christian, Cody, Alina, and great-grandmother of 15. Millie will be missed by her siblings, Owen (Maureen) Costain, Jim Costain, both of PEI, Bandler Costain of BC, and Ebben Costain of ON.
Mildred is predeceased by her husband John Vandebor, daughter Tammy Vandebor, granddaughters Leah Vandenbor and Tavira Harford, sons-in-law Dale Wood and Howard Allen, daughter-in-law Diane Catto, and siblings Charlie, Alvin, Harvey, Wylie, Barbara, Irma, Melvin, Raymond, and Ivan.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. Visitation will be held prior from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Murray Lincoln officiating. Reception to follow.
Interment in Walkerton Cemetery.
