Kerry Stephen Jim Elliott
1945-2025
In Loving Memory of
Kerry Stephen Jim Elliott, 79 years
(March 20, 1945 –
January 29, 2025)
Born on March 20, 1945, Kerry, or Jim to his friends, lived a
life filled with love, loyalty, and passion. Known for his fierce
loyalty to family and friends, Kerry was always there to lend a
helping hand, offer support, and share in both joys and sorrows. His
dedication to those he loved was unwavering, making him a cherished
friend and a beloved family member.
Born in New
Westminster, BC, he followed his mother and father with his two
brothers Chris and Pat to Pictou where the Elliott clan sank their
roots in deep. Making friends and eventually meeting the love of his
life, Dale, where the rest of his life took shape. From high school
onward, Kerry shared his life with Dale, the love of his life. Their
bond was a testament to enduring love and companionship, weathering
all of life’s challenges together. Their relationship was one of
mutual respect, deep affection, and unwavering
commitment.
Kerry had many friends in Pictou and Kentville, and counted
himself lucky to have met the Beatons along the way, whose clan merged
seamlessly with the Elliott’s, where kids and adults alike
enjoyed many hours of family orientated shenanigans! New traditions
emerged, as old ones flourished (Ada is the only one who could make a
cup of tea that could satisfy him).In a small tight knit communities
like Pictou and Kentville, it’s hard not to mention every name or
family who impacted Kerry’s life, but those who know, know!
Thank you!
Kerry was known to most he worked with at Michelin (for over
33 years) as « Big Jim », had a love of baseball (he
was a wicked left hand heat pitcher), horses, hockey, and golf. Golf
was more of a love/hate relationship, but you could ask his buddies
Paul Calloway, Tom White, and Brian Gibson, as he most likely was on
the links with those fellas! Many lessons were learned breeding
Arabian horses with his wife Dale and playing or coaching the sports
he loved.
Kerry is incredibly proud of his two son’s Randy
(Mikki) and Michael (Kat), and his two grandson’s Noah and
Ronan. He would do anything in his power for those boys and did on
many occasions. Kerry touched the lives of many youth through the
coaching of numerous hockey and baseball teams his boys played on.
Kerry was proud of all his players, no matter the outcome, because if
there was one thing he taught, it was give it your best effort and
leave it all on the ice or the field. Which his players seemed to
always do!
Kerry was a true baby whisperer, even though at times he had
a gruff demeanor. If there was a baby or a toddler around, it
wouldn’t be long before you’d see them crawl up on
his lap and he’d be playing with them. The sounds of giggles
and laughter were a testament to his soft interior as opposed to the
tough exterior one he liked to project. With a heart of gold, it was
easy to see what attracted those little children to such a big
man!
Respect is earned not given in Kerry’s
world, and many of his boy’s childhood friends learned this
lesson, at least in part, from Kerry. Many have recounted how
« terrifying » of a presence he had with nothing more
than a look, but as they matured and gained wisdom of years of their
own, realized just how big of a teddy bear he really was. As they all
got older, it was evident that Kerry loved being in on the pranks
being orchestrated by his boys and their friends. Always in good fun,
but lessons still were being learned…F around and find out
was an important one!!!
Kerry’s legacy lives on through his family and the
countless lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and generosity.
He will be remembered for his tenacious spirit, his loving nature, and
the joy he brought to everyone around him.
Kerry was predeceased by his father, Stephen Charles Elliott,
his mother Dorothy Lois « Dottie » Elliott and his
brother John Patrick Elliott.
Kerry is survived by his wife of 58 years Marjorie Dale
(Munro) Elliott, sons Randy (Mikki) Elliott and Michael (Kat) Elliott;
brother Dr. Chris Elliott; grandsons Noah Elliott and Ronan Elliott
and chosen grandsons Zachery and Grayson. Also survived by
sisters-in-law Sharon (Chris) Elliott, Beth (Colin) MacNeill, Jeannie
(Willie) Ferguson, Jackie (Scott) MacDonald and Cindy Conway, as well
as several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville, NS where a memorial service will be held for family and
close friends to celebrate Kerry’s extraordinary life at
2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025. A visitation and reception

NS at a later date.
