Reuter, John (April 7, 1933 – February 24, 2025)
Passed away, peacefully, after a long and well lived life, John Reuter, a resident of Woodingford Lodge, Ingersoll, on Monday, February 24th, 2025, at the age of 91. John was born in Kleinbetschkerek (a German settlement in Romania) on April 7, 1933, son of John Reuter Sr. and Katarina (Minich) Reuter. John and his family fled to Austria in 1944, due to World War II. In 1949, he immigrated to Canada, where he settled in the Staffordville area. John met Barbara Kessler in 1953, and they married in 1956. They were married for 56 years until Barbara passed away in 2012. John farmed in the Delhi area (Rhineland) for most of his life, along with his wife and daughters until both John and Barbara’s health sadly declined. They moved to Tillsonburg in their retirement years. John was a devout Christian and faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Always a devoted father to Barbara (Barbie) Reuter and Deborah (Debbie) Reuter, both of Hamilton. John is survived by his spouse Inge Moysich, of Tillsonburg. Also survived by his loving extended family- his brother, niece, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. John enjoyed walking, often on the farm, and in Tillsonburg. He enjoyed reading books about history, religion and geography. He always loved classical music, waltzes, tangos and polkas. John and Barbara enjoyed many fond occasions of dancing at the Delhi District German Home.
In keeping with John’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. Everyone is invited to attend public visitation on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, between 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A memorial service to celebrate John’s life and faith will be held on Friday, March 14th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, by Brother Michael Herbus residing. Private interment follows in Tillsonburg Cemetery Columbarium 3. Friends and relatives are invited to send personal condolences, share favorite memories and photos, or contribute memorial donations to Woodingford Lodge- Oxford (donate at www.oxfordcounty.ca/services-for-you/long-term-care/woodingford-lodge-donations/ for the “resident activities fund”) or to the Watch Tower Society of Canada or to any charity of your choice via John’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J.
