Age 89, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully with family by her side, Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born on November 25, 1935 in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Roy Jodrey and Hilda (Millett) Higgin.
Joan attended school in Gaspereau, Wolfville High School and Needham, Massachusetts. She completed her schooling graduating with Secretarial Science from Acadia University. She was a member of the Hantsport Baptist Church and choir, Ken-Wo Golf Club and the Red Hatters Group (Crown Jewels). Over the years, Joan taught figure skating in Windsor and Hantsport. In her spare time she enjoyed walking, skiing, golfing, music and dominos. She also enjoyed decorating for Halloween, Christmas and Easter and entertaining family and freinds.
Joan loved having all her family together. Her sons-in-law liked joking about who she made the apple pie for. She loved travelling to other countries with her kids when they were young, Florida and Bermuda were the two most visited. When they grew up and as adults she travelled to Myrtle Beach with Paula to visit Renda and Casey to golf. She went to Florida, visiting Disney World and St. Petersburg several times with Paula, Tony and grandchildren, Jacob and Ashley. She also went to Florida with Paula to Sharon Boyd’s daughter, Tara’s, wedding. She travelled to Hawaii with Hilda and to the Calgary Stampede with Hilda and Randy Higgin. She went to Jamaica with Merle and Alberta to ski with Dale, Bev and Robert. Travelling was something she greatly enjoyed doing.
