It is with love and sadness we announce the passing of Heather on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Al for 48 years, devoted mother of David (Gloria), and Sarah (Warren), and adoring grandmother of Eddie, Charlie, and Callum. She is predeceased by her parents Edwin and Ivy Cooper (neé Taylor), and her sister Margaret.
Heather was an avid gardener, a prolific reader, and a caring and thoughtful friend. She spent close to 30 years teaching in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, and most of her career in the Kindergarten classroom at Allenby Public school. At the age of 32, Heather survived breast cancer, and went on to provide support and awareness of the disease as a part of the Knot-A-Breast dragon boat team. She was a firm believer in volunteering and charity work, and leaves behind a legacy of helping those who needed it the most. Heather was someone who led with love and courage; to have known her was to have felt that love in a million different ways.
In keeping with Heather’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in July. For further details, please provide your contact information here. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
