In Loving Memory of Harry Palmer July 16, 1932 – February 1, 2025 With a quiet confidence and a heart full of love, Harry lived a life that was strong in every way – physically, mentally, and in the love he poured into his family. In his younger years, he was a bodybuilder, but his real strength wasn’t just in his muscles; it was in his unwavering spirit, his laughter, and the way he made people feel when he picked up his guitar and filled the room with music. Harry was born in Dagenham, England, a working-class suburb next to the sprawling Ford Motor plant. It wasn’t exactly picturesque, but that never stopped him from calling it “the beauty spot of England” with his signature wit. He grew up there alongside his twin brother and best buddy, Charles, and their siblings Rita, Stella, and Jack. Together, they navigated childhood in wartime London, living through the bombing raids that shaped their resilience and determination.
In 1957, Harry made the courageous move to Canada, arriving 18 months before his beloved wife, June, to get everything set up for their new life. He came with five friends from the English Air Force, all ready to build a future. And build, he did. For 74 years, Harry and June shared a love that was a rare and beautiful thing – a partnership built on mutual respect, joy, and deep devotion. Their bond was something special, something timeless. They weathered life’s challenges together, supporting each other through every trial, and always making room for laughter, music, and the quiet comforts of being by each other’s side. Their love wasn’t just something they shared, it was the foundation on which everything else was built. Together, Harry and June raised three sons – Martin, Ian, and Gary – filling their home with love, music, and the kind of values that last for generations. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, sacrificing luxuries so his boys could have the kinds of vacations that made for the best memories. Golf was his passion, Gordon Lightfoot was his soundtrack, and music was in his soul. Whether he was strumming his guitar, making friends on the golf course in Florida, or simply sitting with family, his presence was a gift.
On February 1st, 2025, Harry passed away peacefully, with his favorite song, « Beautiful » by Gordon Lightfoot, sending him off on his next adventure. He is reunited now with his siblings Rita, Stella, and Jack, who all passed before him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the lessons he taught through the life he lived. His wife, June, his sons Martin, Ian, and Gary, his twin brother Charles, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many friends he made along the way will carry his memory forward, forever grateful for the time they had with him. A life well lived, a love well shared, and a man well loved.
