Obituary of Gordon Els
The family of Gordon Els of Yorkton, formerly of Kamsack, beloved husband of Doris Els, sadly announce his passing on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. He was 83 years of age.
Respecting Gordon’s wishes, there will be no formal service.
He will be laid to rest at Prairieview Indoor Columbarium in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to STARS Air Ambulance as gifts of remembrance.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral Home and Cremation Care.
Gordon Els passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 19, 2025 at the Country Meadows unit of the Yorkton District Nursing Home at the age of 83. He was born December 29, 1941 to Adam & Katie (nee Starger) Els.
Gordon married Doris Hilderman in Togo on September 3, 1966 and their son Brent was born February 8, 1972. Gordon and Doris lived in the Kamsack area for 40 years then retired in Yorkton.
Gordon worked road construction in British Columbia with two of his brothers. When Gordon and his brothers moved home, they started a mixed farming operation in the Togo area. He farmed and was an auctioneer in his spare time for most of his life. When he retired from farming, he enjoyed being an auctioneer full time for several years. Gordon worked hard and lived life to the fullest.
Gordon is predeceased by his parents Adam and Katie, brothers Rudy, Albert, Edward, Ken and sister Marjorie. Survived by his wife Doris, son Brent (Cheryl), sister Bev and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Ituna Pioneer Nursing Home and Country Meadows of the Yorkton & District Nursing Home for his excellent care in his final months.
