Gerald Erwin Obituary
Gerald Frank Erwin, 88 years young, of Port Elgin, passed away peacefully at home late Monday, January 6th 2025. He was born on June 18th 1936, to Margaret Baker, and was later adopted by Frank and Violet Erwin who raised him with love and caring. He married Ruthanne Reilly in 1968, who lovingly cared for him to the end.
Gerry had a diverse career history, starting out as the Director of Business Development at Noranda Mines, later worked on Bay Street as a data analyst, and eventually became a financial planner. He continued his work into his later years, only retiring at the end of 2024.
As an avid golfer, he was frequently seen playing at the Saugeen Golf Club with his buddies. He was a passionate musician, and passed his love of guitar to his sons. Later in life, Gerry took up painting, story telling, and spent his Sundays watching football.
He was loved by family and friends alike, who all appreciated his great sense of humour.
Loving father to Reilly (Jennifer) and Ryan (Karen) and Poppa to Emily, Sydney, Leo, Bridget, Denisha, and Jessina. Dear brother-in-law of Maureen (Jack Russell). Loving brother of the late Grant Erwin and brother of the late Bonnie Marshall, and uncle to her daughter Tracy. Loving uncle to Kathy, Michael, Maura, Christopher, Jane, Jonathan, Jennifer and Kate.
Gerry frequently mentioned that, despite minor little differences, he and Ruthanne were meant to be together, and there was no one he’d prefer to spend his life with.
The Erwin family would like to thank their friends and Ontario Health at Home for the sterling care and kindness to Gerry during his illness.
