Parcourez la nécrologie de George Ioanidis 2025 résidant dans la province Ontario pour le détail des funérailles
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather on May 20, 2025, at the age of 77.
George was born on November 15, 1947, in the village of Bouf in northern Greece. Life was challenging in the village and George immigrated to Canada at a young age in search of a better life. Here, he met his wife Bonnie (nee Vasiloff) and they were happily married for 54 years. George is predeceased by his mother Fani Minou and stepfather Elias Minou. He will be forever missed by his son Gregory (Voula), daughter Natalie Marcarian (George), and his grandchildren Zachary, Alexander, and Jaxson, who infused him with endless joy and pride. He also leaves behind Alex Gagatsis (Alice), who was like a brother to him, sister-in-law Victoria Todorovski (Velo) and many other cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will always hold his memory close to their hearts.
In his younger years, George was an avid fisherman and enjoyed eating his daily catch. He was a voracious gardener, tending to his peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes and his lawn was the envy of the neighbourhood. After a long career at the Windsor Trim Plant, George retired early to devote more time to his family and hobbies, including golfing with his fellow Boufchani. George was exceptionally handy and tackled everything from cars to home renovations. He found the most enjoyment watching his children and grandchildren competing in sports, vacationing with his family, and feasting at holiday celebrations. Most of all, while George was a man of few words, he was admired and respected by all who knew him because he was kind, strong, hardworking, and thoughtful. George was a member of St. Nicholas Macedonian Orthodox Church and a proud member of Bouf’s Mutual Benefit Association of Windsor.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Mary Jenkins, the HDGH Pallative Care Unit Staff, and Amy’s Helping Hands.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the London Health Sciences Foundation (c/o Dr. Mary Jenkins) or the Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare Foundation – Pallative Care.
Visitation will be held at Families First Funeral Home (3260 Dougall Ave.) on Monday, May 26 between 2–4pm and 6–8pm with Parish Prayers at 7:30pm. Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 27 at 11am at St. Nicholas Macedonian Orthodox Church (5225 Howard Ave.) officiated by Fr. Emil.
