A believer in lifelong learning, he held diplomas in Religious Education and Faith Formation and Ministry. He was active in his Parish of St. Joseph’s, and pastoral grouping of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini where he served on several committees and responded to the liturgical and educational needs of his Parish.
Active in the community, he served for a number of years as a Director of the Reserve Mines Credit Union and Tompkins Development Ltd.
David enjoyed reading, bowling in the teachers’ league, puttering in his yard, working out with his workout buddy, Henry White, walking Dominion Beach with Stevie Campbell, vacationing in Quebec City, and always stopping for a chat with the many people he knew. He will also be remembered for his collection of over 300 ties which he kept carefully bundled by colour.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay on Friday Feb. 28 from 5-8 PM.
