Obituary
Concettina has passed in peace on February 7, 2025 at the age of 95 and is now eternally reunited with her late husband, Antonio. Concettina was born in Crotone, Italy on April 4, 1929 and came to Canada in October of 1965. Loving mother of Palma/Lina Caruso (Vincenzo), Pino (Silvana), Vince (Ann Marie), the late Elisa, and Maurice (Linda). She will be forever remembered by her grandchildren, Agnese (Yohan), Cristina (Guillaume), Vanessa, Michael (Alex), the late Andy, Danielle (Mike), Tonille, Elisa (Massimo), Maurizio (Silvia) and Marco; and great-grandchildren Allegra, Marcello, Aria, Vincent, Montana, Mia, Davina, Michael, Antonio, Maria-Vittoria, Rosalind, and Matilde. Daughter of the late Antonio Felice Materno and Elisabetta Caccia. Daughter-in-law of late Rocco and Pama Raffaela Fazio and step-daughter of the late Michele Martelli. Dear sister of Teresa DeCaria (late Francesco), the late Domenico Materno (Gaetana), and the late Gino Materno. Sister-in-law of the Fazio and Martelli families. Concettina is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Italy, France and Canada. Special thank you to the staff at the Village of Wentworth Heights for all their care and help during Concettina’s last years. Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton Street East, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 9:00 – 12:30 p.m. with the Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 165 Prospect St. North, Hamilton. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. If desired and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Anthony of Padua Church or the Alzheimer Society.
