Mom was well-known in her community. She came to Marysvale from Chapel’s Cove as a young woman to teach school. She met Paul, got married, and made Marysvale her home. In her younger years, she was the proprietor of a small grocery store and local hangout, “Ryan’s Snackbar”. It was more than just a small business, it became a second home to the teenagers of Marysvale and surrounding communities. She was a dedicated volunteer and was president of the Ladies Auxiliary. Many card games, dances, and garden party turkey teas were had under her organization.
Despite the passing years, she remained young at heart. Nothing brought her more happiness than a house filled with family and friends. She lit up when the rooms rang with chatter, laughter, and the happy noise of children playing.
Special thanks to her two wonderful caregivers, Sandy Rose and Gail McHugh Bartlett.
