Aran Kopp Obituary
Kopp, Aran John – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Aran John Kopp, a special man who held many titles, some of which were Husband, Father, Step Father, Grandpa, Opa, Great Grampa, and Great Opa.
Aran was the ninth of twelve children born to John Cornelius and Elizabeth (Baergen) Kopp. His birth date was May 23rd 1930 and he was born in the family farmhouse located in Namaka, Alberta. When four years old, the family moved to Dutchess, Alberta, where he attended Clancy School as well as working on the family farm. In 1948, most of the family, including Aran moved to Virgil, Ontario. Aran held several jobs driving trucks, settling with Inter-City Truck Lines, remaining in their employment for 34 years.
In 1951, Aran met and married Ellen June Rienzo resulting in a family of four; Jamie Johann (Quinn), Leslie Ellen ( Scott) (Counsell), Aran Andrew (Marna) and Aran Matthew (Karen) and grandchildren Jacqueline Colleen, Aran Philip (Lori), Courtney Ellen (Robert), Kirsten Lynn (Mark), Ashley June (Mark), Megan June (Dan) and Kyle Andrew ,Tori Kathleen and Paige Aaran. After 32 years of marriage June died January 1983.
Aran and Elly (Andres) Baker were married in December 1984 increasing the family by including: Betty (step daughter) and Robert Arid, William (step son) and Maryanne Baker and step-grandchildren Jeffery (Kirsten) and Kelly Arid, Tara (John) and Thomas (Sladja) Baker as well the eventual addition of 19 great grandchildren.
Aran was predeceased by parents John and Elizabeth, sisters Susan (Schaal) Betty (Fielding) Margaret (Janzen),Clara (Janzen) and Lena (Winter); as well as brothers Cornelius. Henry, John, and Walter. Hilda (Glucker) is now the last surviving sibling.
While his children were young he became an active member of the St. Davids United Church. Aran was involved in the choir, the Sunday School, as well as a member of Session. Aran was baptized into the Church May 28, 1961. In his later years, Aran and Elly attended Niagara United Mennonite for over 25 years.
Avid travellers, Aran and Elly visited China, Europe, Ukraine, Berma and the Holy Land as well as enjoying various cruises during their earlier retirement. Many adventures were had while traveling through states and provinces in their motorhome as well as enjoying time spent together on the golf course.
Aran’s easy laughter, constant joking and beaming smile will be missed by family, friends and coffee mates. Nieces and nephews will miss his ready conversation, his interest in their lives and their families and his readiness to help or just listen. His once grand and now downsized workshop will stand empty missing the person who so enjoyed dreaming and creating a variety of projects. Some of which were outstanding and others that were… a great first attempt.
So many lives seemed to be a bit brighter and a bit more full when Aran was involved. He will be forever missed.
Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, March 18 at 10:30am at the Niagara United Mennonite Church, 1775 Niagara Stone Rd, Niagara-on-the-Lake, with visitation one hour prior.
The funeral service will be live streamed. Click Here to be redirected to the Niagara United Mennonite Church YouTube channel. The service will remain available for 7 days following the service.
