It is with great sadness that the family of Anne Dallas announce her passing on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the age of 74 years.
Anne was the eldest of 4 children born to Austin and Doris (Leach) Gauthier, and raised in a cozy little brick bungalow in the Weston suburb of Toronto. Life in Weston was filled with good neighbours, cards, dancing and lots of family and laughter. In 1967 Anne became pregnant and had a son, Craig, and made the difficult decision of giving him up for adoption. After Graduating from Weston Collegiate High School with honours, she started working for Bell Canada where she met and subsequently married George Stuart. They welcomed their first daughter Sandra in 1971. In 1973, the little family decided to try their luck out west settling into Turner Valley, AB. They were blessed with their second daughter Denise in 1974. Anne became a fixture in town working at the post office and then starting Granny’s Pizza, which is still standing today. Along with work she was involved in the St. Michaels Church CWL, TOPS and volunteering at the kids’ activities, including the local swim club.
When her marriage to George ended in 1984, Anne returned to school to fulfill her lifelong ambition of becoming a Registered Nurse. For the next 20+ years she worked at the High River and Oilfields Hospitals as an ER / Maternity nurse and was very involved with the Nurses’ Union. In 1998 she married her soulmate Michael Dallas, and they settled in Diamond Valley where they enjoyed many years with friends and family and becoming the worlds best Grandma and Papa. In 1998, Anne reunited with her son Craig and was very happy to get to know him and his family.
In 2017 Anne and Mike permanently retired to a small but beautiful acreage in the Slocan Valley, BC. Always striving to be part of a community, Anne made good friends with her neighbours, joined a ladies group, book club and became a volunteer librarian at the Slocan Library which she enjoyed very much. Anne was very interested with her family history and was the go-to person with any questions. Anne loved her life on the mountain with Mike and her beloved cats, and it was one of her great regrets not having more time to enjoy their own little piece of paradise.
Anne is survived by her husband Michael Dallas, children Craig (Kim) Johnston, Sandra (Brad) Fellger, Denise (Bruce) Stuart-Way. Grandchildren, Joshua Cooper, Riley and Cooper Johnston, Brooklynn (Gary) Hofer, Dustin Fellger, Adrienne (Braden Gelinas), Nathan, and Madeline Stuart and her great grandchildren Bentley and Kohen Fellger-Hofer and Collins Johnston. She was also survived by her siblings Dona Fluter, Brenda (Cherie) Gauthier, Glenn Gauthier. Anne was survived and beloved by her nieces and nephew Carli, Stacey, Donny, Janie, Robyn and Lynsie.
Anne was predeceased by her parents Austin and Doris Gauthier, her in-laws Bill and Genevive Dallas, brother-in-law Paul Fluter and sister-in-law Lynn Gauthier.
