Obituary of Zelda Grace Naugler
Zelda Grace Naugler (née Williams)
November 11, 1932 – May 16, 2024
Zelda Grace Naugler, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024 at the Valley Hospice in Kentville. Born and raised in Perth, NB, Zelda was the cherished daughter of the late Harry and Bulah Williams.
A graduate of the Fredericton Business School, Zelda proudly joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and was one of the first servicewomen posted to 4F Wing in Baden-Söllingen, Germany. Her two-year posting ignited a lifelong passion for travel, which she enjoyed throughout her service career and married life.
After returning to St. Hubert, Quebec, for two years, Zelda met her beloved husband, the late Harry “Ted” Naugler. They were married for 64 wonderful years and eventually settled in Greenwood.
Zelda is survived by her three children: John (Barbara) of Hampton, NB; David (Sue) of Calgary, AB; and Debbie (Jim) Haugen of Seattle, WA. She was a proud grandmother to seven wonderful grandchildren and deeply regretted being unable to watch her five great-grandchildren grow up.
In addition to being a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother, Zelda was an accomplished artist, cook, quilter, rug hooker, sewer, seamstress, gardener, crocheter, and traveler. She was an all-around amazing person who touched the lives of many.
Zelda cherished her aquacise friends and their special gatherings, among her many friends Carol, Anne, Red and Sylvia, Joan and Ian, and Marian to name a few. She will especially be missed on “Joan Day,” where she and Joan shared coffee and donuts every Thursday morning for years. Zelda also enjoyed “Lupper” outings with Marion, dining between lunch and supper at various establishments between Middleton and Berwick
Zelda leaves behind many family and friends who will never forget the special times spent together. A special thank you to Dr. Amanda Smith of the Kingston Medical Clinic for her compassionate care, and to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Valley Hospice in Kentville, NS, for their incredible support during Zelda’s final weeks.
Mom will truly be missed by many.
Zelda’s last hope was for her family to always stay in touch. Her ashes will be laid to rest with her husbands at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
