After a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, Yvonne Elizabeth Mitchell passed peacefully, with her loving family by her side, in her home in Inglewood on July 15, 2024, at the age of 50.
Beloved wife of Jamie Mitchell. Dear mother to her children Amelia and Joachim. Cherished daughter of Jose and Betty Piedra and daughter-in-law of Peter and Joanne Mitchell. Loving sister to Cathy Piedra-McKenzie (Duke, Liliana, Kingston), Priscilla Piedra (Armando, Sebastian), sister-in-law to Carey Mitchell (Jordan, Jayla), her extended family, close friends, and neighbours. Yvonne will be remembered as a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and a loyal, fun-loving friend to many.
Yvonne was quiet, kind, loving, and a hero to her family and friends until her very last day. She believed strongly in the power of positive thinking and how it helped her deal with the disease.
Yvonne’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Oncology Department at Brampton Civic Hospital, her team of PSWs, as well as all those who have reached out to comfort and console us during this time.
Visitation will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Friday, July 19th, 2024 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. & 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, July 20th, 2024 at 11:00 am. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
You will be forever missed, loved and never forgotten.
A tree will be planted in memory of Yvonne in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
