William S. Gaskey
July 16th,1932 – April 2, 2024
William (Bill) S. Gaskey was raised in Meaford Ontario by his Ukrainian mother. The family announce his peaceful passing at North York General Hospital, where he received incredible care from a compassionate team, who demonstrated remarkable empathy and grace during his stay. The family also thanks UHN for their many years of excellent care in treating Bill for bladder cancer. We have deep gratitude to the Amica Bayview Gardens staff who cared for Bill with kindness and good humour every day for the last six months of his life.
From an early age, Bill showed great passion and determination. Graduating from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Business Degree, he not only excelled academically but also proved himself to be a gifted athlete and a champion in key academia such as poker, billiards and ping pong. In fact, it is believed that the money he earned playing pool in Meaford helped finance his education.
For over thirty years, he contributed his talents to the world of advertising at Ronalds Reynolds, which later became Foot, Cone, Belding (FCB Canada). Starting as a Jr Account Executive, he eventually retired as CEO and Chairman, leaving behind a legacy of respected clients, creativity and innovation.
Bill, known as “Senior” and “Byron”, took great pride in his achievements on the golf course. Over his lifelong golfing journey, he achieved an incredible feat of six holes-in-one, accomplished among his closely knit golf groups at Bayview Country Club in Toronto, Colliers Reserve Country Club in Naples, and Rocky Crest in Muskoka.
However, Bill’s greatest source of joy and fulfillment came from his family, where he created decades of memories at their winter home in Naples and his cherished cottage on Lake Rosseau. He was a devoted husband to Barbara (Russell) for 62 years, a loving father to Jennifer (Dave) Dobell of Victoria BC, Bill Jr. (Amanda) of Toronto, and Tom residing in Australia. To his grandchildren, Colin and Henry Dobell, Charlotte and Will Gaskey, he was a doting Grandad who built countless sand castles and fished for hours on end. He was also survived by his brother Roy Gaskey, predeceased by sister Olly Daly.
We remember Bill, Dad, Grandad, for the love and joy he brought to our lives everyday.

Bill will be remembered on Tuesday, April 9th at the Bayview Country Club, 25 Fairway Heights Dr, Thornhill, L3T 3X1. Reception 11:30am to 2pm, tributes at noon.
