It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of William Arthur Burke, age 90,
of Amherst. Bill passed away on Sunday, June 30th, 2024 at the
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in River Hebert, he was a son of
the late Arthur W. and Dorothy (Melanson) Burke.
Bill loved to play checkers with his
brother Harvey. He was an outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing
and four wheeling. Bill took great pleasure in cutting his own wood
for the winter.
Bill will be dearly missed by siblings
Harvey White of Amherst, Doris VanSnick of Amherst, Evelyn Parker of
Collingwood, ON, Eleanor (Leo) Edwards of River Hebert;
daughter-in-law Colleen; 2 grandsons as well as many nieces and
nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by his 2 sons Little Bill and Jackie Burke; brother Leon and sister
Lorraine Landry.
The family would like to give a special
thanks to the staff at the hospital.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). Following Bill’s wishes, cremation
has taken place and there will be no services at this
time.
Donations in Bill’s memory may be made
to the Canadian Cancer Society.
