Jason Andrew Whiting
July 25, 1985-May 1, 2024
It with heavy and sorrow filled hearts we announce the passing of Jason Andrew Whiting, father to Jaxten, brother to Crystal and son to Faye.
Jason will start his good-bye journey this week and will first be given a private farewell with his immediate family in Carman, Manitoba after which cremation will take place. He will then travel to Kenora for a celebration of his life, tentatively scheduled for Sunday, July 21, 2024 (Jason’s birthday) at a venue still to be determined. All who knew Jason will be invited to attend the celebration.
In addition to his immediate family Jason leaves behind to mourn for him his favourite uncle, Tom Whiting, his grandmother Jane Whiting, his half sister Jamie Lee, numerous aunts and cousins, in particular his cousin Joel Goranson who has been more his brother than cousin, since early childhood.
Jason leaves behind many good friends who will miss him, we want to name you all, and started to, but stopped for fear of leaving anyone out. He loved you all and his family is comforted knowing he had such a large and loving extended family in those friendships.
Jason was predeceased by his grandfather, George Whiting, who played an important role in Jason’s growing up and who instilled in him his love for the Lake of the Woods.
Jason’s greatest joy in life was his son, Jaxten, with whom he canoed, fished, kayaked, hiked, cooked amazing food with– they were always trying new projects, recipes and adventures. Some of Jason’s happiest moments were those he had tent camping with Jaxten on Lake of the Woods. He wanted always to be the best dad, and worked so hard to achieve that for Jaxten. His last words to family were about how much he loved his son, forever he said.
Many thanks to all who have reached out to console Jason’s family and who helped to bring him home by contributing to the fund set up to do that. Special thanks to Aunt Gina Goranson, Aunt Denise Trueman, Krista Brignall, Rose B, Jamie-Lee, Chris Hertz, Charlie Gibson and Doug.
If he could, Jason would want to thank the people who provided him with assistance and support his last few months as he recovered from a recent health crisis: Charlie, Chris, Barb, Bobbi, Aunt Dawn, Uncle Tom. I am sure we have missed some good people in this list and we apologize, please know in your hearts that Jason was grateful for your help.
In recent years Jason battled with managing his diabetes which was complicated by his addiction to alcohol. His fight is over and he is at peace. Though all who knew and loved him will miss him more than words can ever say, let us find some solace in that: he is at peace.
You are forever loved and will be forever missed Jason. To the moon and back. Rest now.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Jason can be made to the gofundme account online being managed by Krista Brignall entitled “Bringing Jason Home”. If funds raised exceed the costs related to bringing Jason home and celebrating his life the remaining funds will go into an education fund for his son.
If you or a loved one is struggling with mental health or addiction, please reach out to someone today.
