Wendy Lorraine Walsh Obituary
Wendy Lorraine Walsh
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wendy Lorraine Walsh on September 4, 2024, having fought a brave fight with cancer. She passed peacefully away in the loving arms of her partner Sheldon Pinksen. Waiting for Wendy at heaven’s door are who she lovingly called mom and dad, Bill and Florence Walsh. Wendy is predeceased by John Parrot. Left to mourn is their beloved daughter Courtney Parrot (Chance) and Wendy’s loving parents, Debbie (nee Walsh) and Larry Green. Wendy leaves behind her partner Sheldon Pinksen, and children James and Helen along with Shiela (nee Gillingham) and Steward Pinksen. Forever loved by her family, Michelle (Kevin), Barbara (Gary), Martin, Susan (John), Sonny (Michelle), her cousins, nieces, nephews and members of the Grace family.
Wendy was born on November 18, 1979, in St. John’s. She lovingly grew up with a large family in Mitchell’s Brook, Salmonier. Wendy eventually had a beautiful daughter Courtney, who she loved beyond measure. Wendy met Sheldon later in life and together they loved simple days together with their dogs or surrounded by friends dancing at their local bar and socializing in their garage. Wendy was a private and quiet person, but also witty and fun. Wendy had the unique ability to walk into a room of strangers and leave having made one more friend. She was fearless and independent, yet sensitive. Wendy was strong-willed and determined, but those traits served her well during her fight with cancer. All these qualities were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with life’s challenges. Our hearts are broken, but we know that Wendy, who showed such incredible strength, is now at peace, free from the pain of cancer. Our love for her will live on.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. Johns, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 4:00 pm – 9:00pm. Interment will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Salmonier on September 27, 3:00 pm with Father Nelson.
In lieu of flowers you can donate to help fund Courtney’s post-secondary education. A trust has been established and donations can be sent to inwendysmemory@gmail.com. Those who prefer can also donate to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Upkeep Fund mountcarmelcemetery@outlook.com

A Life Well Lived
Life well lived is a precious gift
Of hope and strength and grace,
From someone who has made our world
A brighter, better place
It’s filled with moments, sweet and sad
With smiles and sometimes tears,
With friendships formed and good times shared
And laughter through the years.
A life well lived is a legacy
Of joy and pride and pleasure,
A living, lasting memory
Our grateful hearts will treasure

Those Sunny Days
There were times out in the valley
Things to unfold
We never got to do them
Our life was simply told
Now I think of our good-times
The things that we saw
You never did nothing
you hadn’t seen before
Then you ran out of the shadows
You ran into the rain
You told them all keep trying
I’ll take you once again
Now you lay in the valley
Peace forever more
I’ll see you soon my love
On the next shore
Just wait for me, I can’t come soon
There’re kids to be raised
But I’ll see you soon my love
On those sunny days.
