Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Ignatius Kenny of Holyrood and Witless Bay. Wayne fought a long, hard and courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, but sadly on Monday, January 8, 2024, he lost that battle and passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by family. He had just turned 67, six days previously.
Wayne is loved and missed by his son, Jonathan (Stephanie); and his two grandsons: Aiden and Marcus of Calgary; Father, Loyola Kenny of Witless Bay; and siblings: Deborah, Ted, Gary of St. John’s and Colleen (Geoff) of Victoria B.C. Also leaving to mourn, friend Brian Eccleston of NB and a large circle of relatives and friends across Canada. Wayne is predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth and just recently his best friend Peter Dalton of Holyrood.
Having retired from the Military, Wayne bought a home right on the ocean, in Holyrood. There he was able to enjoy the simple things in life, such as watching the birds, whales and boats. He also enjoyed listening to music and reading. Another one of his passions was driving, being on the road, camping in his RV, sight seeing and spending time with family and friends, wherever they may be. Most of all Wayne will be remembered for his generosity and kindness, helping in any way he could. He was especially gifted when it came to anything electronic, having the patience to stick with it and enjoying the challenge to completion. We will all miss that.
We wish to thank everyone who helped Wayne along the way, especially the Doctors and Nurses who did all they could to help Wayne in his treatments. It did not go unnoticed.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Funeral Service to follow at 2 p.m. at Caul’s Chapel. Donations in Wayne’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
