In Loving Memory
Wayne Bruce Biles passed away on June 27,2023, after a brief stay at Milton Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He will be sadly missed. He was predeceased by his parents, Newt and Evelyn (nee Gaskin) Biles of Toronto; his sister, Shirley Scott; and his brothers, Don and Paul. He is survived by his loving children, Kim (Brad), Wayne (Sheila) and Greg (Cathy); and their mother/his former wife, Barb. He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Ashlea and Tyler, and mother Amy, and Brett.
Bruce will be fondly remembered as athletic and very social, with a wonderful sense of humour, always adventure loving and an eloquent speaker.
Born and raised in Toronto, Bruce attended Forest Hill Collegiate lnstitute, where he played football and many of his lifelong friendships began.
He got his boys started in hockey (York Mills Arena outdoors) and he spent early years coaching, which led to years of competitive hockey for his boys. He also enjoyed helping his daughter become involved in equestrian competitions and show jumping with her own horse for several years.
A family cottage on Lake of Bays was a place where he enjoyed large family gatherings and water activities. The years spent in Nassau with his family also allowed him to pursue his love of scuba diving and water skiing. He became so proficient at water skiing that he began to teach in Nassau, and for a time he enjoyed life there with his beloved dog, Blackjack.
He spent many years working in the family business in Toronto, and in later years pursued his love for sailing, which led to many adventures in the Caribbean. He also loved flying ultralight planes and taught at a school in Florida for a time. He was a gifted storyteller and we will greatly miss hearing about all of his truly incredible adventures.
At Bruce’s request, there will be no funeral service. Following his cremation, a private family gathering will be held in celebration of his life. Donations to a local Humane Society would be gratefully accepted in his memory.
