Wayne Bennett
1945-2024
With his family by his side, Michael Wayne Bennett of Plaster Rock,
NB, passed away peacefully at the Upper River Valley Hospital on the
afternoon of September 24, 2024.
Wayne was born in St. John’s, NL, on February 2, 1945. He was the son
of the late John and Veronica (Evans) Bennett. Wayne leaves behind his
loving wife and partner of 40 years, Judy Bennett (Gallop); his
daughter, Denise Saunders (Chris) of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; his
sons, Richard Bennett (Tammy) of Paradise, NL, Paul Bennett (Carolyn)
of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; his grandchildren, twins Emma and Megan
Saunders, Lauren Bennett, Michael Bennett, Noah Bennett-Thompson,
twins Isaac and Jacob Bennett, and Hannah Bennett.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents; his brother, John-Paul Bennett
and Randall Bennett.
Wayne was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt partridge and moose
with his best buddies, Danny, Teddy, and Debbie. He believed in
community service and played an essential part in running the World
Pond Hockey Championships annually since its inception over 20 years
ago.
Respecting Wayne’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral
service held. A private interment will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas
Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
For those who wish, memorial donations to the Mama Bear Cancer Fund or
the Victoria County SPCA, or to a charity of your choice would be
appreciated by the family.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Barry Wecker, the extra mural nurses,
the emergency department at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Perth-Andover, and
Dr. Gharavi and staff on 2 East of the Upper River Valley Hospital in
Waterville. Special thanks to nurses Brittany, Tammi, and Samantha
for the care and compassion given to Wayne and his family during his
final days.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home,
Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock, NB.
