It is with great sorrow and bittersweet gladness that we announce the peaceful passing of Wallace Brent Steed on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the age of 76 years.
Wallace, Affectionately know as “Wally” to those who knew him was many things to the people that loved him. A devoted, Caring and loving husband to his wife, Karen. He was an understanding and wonderful father to his children, Krista (Brent), David (Christina) and Ryan. A proud grandfather to Jacob, Tommy (Hailey), Taylor, Drew, Isabelle, Benny, Bronwyn and Joseph; who adored every moment they got to spend with him. He was also a great- grandfather to a new addition, Everett.
Wally was born on July 23, 1946 in Cardston, AB to Orzie and Eula Steed. He was the youngest of eight children. His love of his parents, brothers and sisters was always evident and was an essential part of his life. Wally had fond memories of being an appendage of his older siblings and their adventures all over the province in his youth.
He graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in dentistry and it was a profession he thrived in and practiced for nearly 50 years.
Wally was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He spent his life in humble and grateful service. His selflessness to always help out those in need will be one of the many enduring legacies of his life.
Wally and Karen created a beautiful home that was always open to friends and family. He welcomed all who stayed at their home, whether short or long term. He loved his raspberry bushes, his well kept lawn, a party, and a chance to visit with everyone.
Wallace loved food and sharing the experience and adventure with others and would do almost anything to obtain the things he wanted. Countless road trips to BC and the United States to secure hundreds of pounds of blueberries, peaches, apricots, tomatoes among others to distribute to friends and family. Ordering Callebaut chocolate for numerous people to continue their Christmas chocolate making tradition. Along with his homemade root beer which took one or two weeks to perfect and was an annual event at the family Christmas parties.
Wallace also loved nature and the weather. He could tell you everything that was happening to the weather in the next five days (either here or around the world) and was a particular expert about the clouds at the head of the lake in Waterton. His love of nature and wildlife was evident in his time spent in Waterton and watching any animal show he could find.
As his family, we are grateful and honored by the outpouring of support and displays of love and admiration for him. He was truly a wonderful, caring and selfless man to so many who were blessed to know him in life.
Please join us in celebrating his life through a memorial service, Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 am to be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (14540 Parkland Blvd SE Calgary, AB)
