Obituary
WAYBRET, Virginia Lois – 91, of Bay Side Home, Barrington, formerly of Clam Point, passed away peacefully on Sept 13 2023. Virginia was born, raised and lived her whole life on Cape Sable Island. She will be remembered fondly by many sitting in her perch in the corner by the window in Clam Point, watching over passersby, listening to the happenings on the water through the trusty CB radio on and running dispatch for her extensive network who knew she had her finger on the pulse of all the goings-on, near and far. Daily contacts included her network of sisters, friends, children and grandchildren. Virginia was the centre of the action, made sure all were well fed but saved enough room the vast selection of sweet treats she always had prepared. She was surrounded by love and affection of friends and family. She suffered great heartbreak with the loss of her beloved John, who held her hand for 71 years of marriage. We all take comfort in knowing they are reunited, hands clasped firmly together forever.
Virginia was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Freda (Nickerson) Ross. She is survived by her daughter Marilee (Bill) and son Greg (Doris), brother Kenneth (Yola), grandchildren Tania (Alvin), Carla (Peter), Robyn (Serge), Timmy (Nicki), Shaneen (Bruce), Devan (Chantel) and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John, son Johnny, brothers Valphy, Enslow, Durwood and Shenton, and her sisters Vivian, Opal, Betty and Gardenia.
She was a lifelong member of the Stoney Island Baptist Church where she enjoyed great fellowship. We extend great gratitude to the team at Bay Side Home, where she received care beyond any expectations. There will be a visitation held at H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, Saturday, September 23 from 6-8 pm, followed by a Funeral Service, Sunday, September 24 at 2 pm with Rev Shaun Hatfield officiating. Interment to follow in the Atlantic Cemetery, Stoney Island. Following a family committal at the graveside, a reception for all will be held at the Lions Hall. Family flowers only please.
