Violet Madeline Prentice (nee Bell)
of Arthur passed away peacefully at the Caressant Care Nursing Home, Arthur on Monday, April 3, 2023 in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Glen Prentice for 49 years (1998). Left with many great memories are her children Larry and Ann Marie Prentice of Wingham, Brian Prentice of Listowel, Rick Prentice of Arthur and Lynn and Kevin Bodz of Arthur. Cherished grandmother of Stacey (Corey), Tim (Nicole), Karen, Dave (Margaret), Kristen (Sam), Kyle (Jenny), Brad (Meg) and Kayla (Blake). Dear great grandmother of Charlie, Aubrey, Presley; Darren, Molly, Courtney; Emma; Hazel; Atlas, Fenix; Blake, Jackson, Lilia; Griffen. Survived by her sisters Glenda Dundas and Shirley Shaw and brother-in-law of Bob Checkley. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her great grandchildren Barrett and Brighton Bodz both in infancy and by her siblings Nelson Bell, Bruce Bell, Edna Hutchison, Nora McQueen, Ruby Shea, Mildred Rogers, Laura Hoffman, Ralph Bell, Joyce Kelly, Marjorie Dowdall and Peggy Checkley. Mom was a wonderful generous cook and baker. Mom and Dad always had a huge garden on the farm in the summer. Pies and roast beef diners with all the fixings were mom’s specialty. Violet always wanted to feed everyone as soon as they walked in the front door. No one ever left the house hungry. She loved all babies but especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Violet was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 226 Ladies Auxiliary and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Arthur. Many thanks to the staff at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Arthur who made mom feel right at home the last 12 years.
A private family spring interment will be held in Greenfield Cemetery, Arthur.
A Celebration of life will be held in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 226, Arthur on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 12:00 to at 3:00 p.m.
As expressions of sympathy donations to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 226 Arthur would be appreciated by the family.
