Obituary of Vincenzo Romano Monaco
Vincenzo Romano Monaco
October 20th 1945 – September 24th 2024
Surrounded by those closest to him, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Papà and Nonno, Vincenzo Romano Monaco, who has been reunited with his late and loving wife Felicia.
Papà’s legacy are his children Enrica (Raimo Bianchi), Antonella (Michael Hall), Romina, Tonino (Doreen) and the pride and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Brady, Alyssa, Ava and Abby. He also leaves behind his companion Nicole Tremblay.
He is survived by his sister Maria Molino (Remo) in Calabria Italy, his brother-in-law Antonio Di Placido (Milina) in Belgium and sister-in-law, Loreta Tarantini (Alberto) in Italy.
Papà is predeceased by his parents, Antonio Monaco and Enrica Casciato, his siblings, Milina and Franco, his in-laws, Antonio Tarantini and Colomba Di Paolo, brother-in-law, Alberto DiNardo and nephew, Andrea DiNardo.
He loved opening his home to his cousins, nieces, nephews, compari, comare, dear friends. There are so many to mention, but each of you knows who you are, how special you were to him and the great memories created together. Cherish them as we will.
Papà Vincenzo was like no other. He was truly the best. He was hard-working, simple, humble, kind-hearted and generous. He enjoyed spending time with his children. Our favourite memory is listening to him tell stories of his childhood in Pizzoferrato, Chieti, where he was born, the struggles endured, the perseverance to push through, and how much fun he had with friends. He loved Pizzoferrato so much that he travelled there yearly, and he had managed to make one last trip this past summer giving history lessons and being a tour guide.
Nonno loved his grandchildren. They were the light of his life. “God Bless you, Nonno”, he would say. You were the best Nonno, and we will miss you standing on your front porch waving good-bye to us as we drove away, no matter what the weather was, you stood on your front porch waving. We will miss and love you always and remember you fondly.
Papà enjoyed going up north to Parry Sound, another favorite place. He spent hours in the garage, loved to hunt, did gardening, and making wine, homemade sausage and prosciutto. If you needed a handyman, Papà was always there. “I’m a jack of all trades, but a master of none” he would say.
Dear Lord, take our Papà and Nonno in your arms and hug him so hard for us. Mamma, he’s there with you.
We will always miss you, love you, and thank you for all the life lessons you have taught us. We will keep them close to our hearts and continue your legacy. Fly with the angels. Watch over us, Papà and Mamma. Tez vedem!
Visitation will be held at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street, St Catharines, on Friday September 27 from 5-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St Alfred Church Saturday September 28 at 9:30am with entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
