With great sadness, we announce the passing of Victor Ewert into the arms of his Lord and Savior. With
his wife at his side, he died peacefully after an intense 8-week battle with brain cancer on June 21, 2023.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margrita Ewert and his cherished children: Wendy Goertz
(David), Steven Ewert (Ann-Michele) and Carolyn Wootton (David), 8 grandchildren and 5 great-
grandchildren.
Victor was born in Chortitiza, Ukraine on February 11, 1938. Due to the war, Victor, together with his
mother and sister, immigrated first to Paraguay in 1947 and then to Canada in 1952. The family was
assisted in this by MCC. In 1955, he met Margrita at the First United Mennonite Church in Vancouver;
they were married there in 1960 and then were blessed with 3 children.
Victor was a kind and gentle person who loved both family and church. He was deeply committed to
serving others, especially the local community of Richmond. He was always grateful to God for being
able to live in Canada.

The memorial will be on July 10th, 2023 at Peace Mennonite Church in Richmond at 1 PM.
