Age 79 of Middle West Pubnico, died May 23rd 2024
in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Middle West Pubnico,
he was the son of the late Lawrence and Adèle (Surette)
d’Eon. He is survived by his daughters; Wanda
d’Eon (Martin Muise), Daphne (Clifton Saulnier), Raylene
(Colin O’Connell) all of West Pubnico and Amy
d’Eon (Jason Norman) Dartmouth, grandchildren Brayden,
Josey, Kailen, Gavin, Dawson and Cate, a sister in law, Geraldine
Janes (Dartmouth) /and a brother in law Austen Doucette (Pauline)
Hubbards Point. He was predeceased by his wife Corinne Marie
d’Eon. Since our mother’s passing, Dad
found comfort in his special friend,
Paulette.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 26th from 6:30-9pm
at the West Pubnico Funeral Home, Middle West Pubnico. A
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 27th at 11am in
St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Cyrille Assihou
officiating. The service will be live streamed on the West
Pubnico Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page beginning at
11am. A reception will follow the funeral at the West Pubnico Fire
Hall. Online condolences may be forwarded to the family at
westpubnicofh.com. Donations in memory may be made to VON
Yarmouth or online to Kidney Foundation of
Canada.

We would like to thank all the staff at the
Yarmouth Regional Hospital for his care over the last few months and
VG transplant clinic for the exceptional care over the last 26
years. Also, we would like to thank the West Pubnico
Pharmasave Pharmacists, VON and home care.
Dad started his career as a fisherman, then sold
his boat to buy Benoit Pottier’s lobster plug
machines. He worked hard to support his family from the very
beginning. He went on to open eight fishing supply stores in
Nova Scotia and PEI. For 19 years, he owned The Dennis Point Cafe,
affectionately called Vern’s. He was a very busy
man but always had time for his family. There was nothing he
loved more than being with Mame, his children and supporting his
grand-children with whatever they were doing. Mame and Dad
were fortunate to spend 60 years together. They took their
vows seriously and stood by each other through many challenges,
sickness and good
times.
Dad was a good man and respected by
many. Although he was a busy man, he was generous with his
time. He always found time to give back to the community by
volunteering over the years with the fire department, the hospital
foundation, the IWK and our church just to name a
few.
