Obituary
Passed peacefully away at her North Pond “Home” in Torbay at the age of 91, after a slow decline in her health.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Harvey Newman Gill; her parents William and Dorothy Stuckless; her brothers Gilbert and Ray Stuckless; her sisters Glenda Sharman and Lucy Snow; her beloved grandson Jonathan Rideout; her mother in law Trixie Gill; sister in law Monika; brothers-in-law Ron Ellis, Wilmore Rideout, George Stanford and Bill Snow.
Left to mourn with their wonderful memories are her three children Gary (Sandra Walsh); Glenda Barron (Bill English); and Gail (Joe Rideout); her three grandchildren Jason Barron (Lisbeth Lokas Nordvik) in Norway; Nicholas Barron (Jennifer) in Paradise; and Jodi Rideout (Adam Parsons) in St John’s. Her four great-grandchildren Lily and Emrik Nordvik Barron; and Ryleigh and Eve Barron.
Also left to mourn, her sisters Ruby Ellis, Vivian Rideout, June Stanford, Helen (Bob) Thomas, Pearl (David) Locke, Sherry Wharton; her brothers William (Sheila), Robert, Eric (Diane); as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews and friends. Sisters in law Diane & Norma; And brothers in law Ed Sharman.
Special mention to the Wonderful staff at North Pond Manor in Torbay who welcomed her into their family almost eight years ago, and grew to love and care for her as their own. It’s impossible to thank the individual people because there are too many to name, but they know who they are and how much Mom and her family appreciated their Love and Support.
Before she left her home in Botwood to move to Torbay, Vera was an active member of the St James’s Anglican church choir, the Lions Club, and the Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was an Avid Bingo player and in her day could throw a pretty mean dart. She missed her Botwood friends when she moved but she never forgot them.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St James Anglican Church in Botwood in her memory.
Cremation has already taken place.
