Bauman, Velina
Velina Bauman passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener. She was a longtime resident of Elmira. Velina was born on August 4, 1935 in Wellesley Township, was the daughter of Dan and Elizabeth Martin, and had seven siblings. She is fondly remembered by her surviving siblings, Elvina Sauder and Lorne Martin, and sister-in-law Betty Martin (Edwin deceased).
She was the loving wife of the late Clayton and mother of Dorothy (Dennis), Darrell (Kim deceased), and Maynard. Velina was a proud grandmother of Jenna, Matthew, Kaitlin (Corey), and Kyle (Rebecca). She was a homemaker, a longtime employee of Bag & Burlap in Elmira, a volunteer at the Elmira MCC Thriftshop, and a dedicated member and Sunday school teacher at Elmira Mennonite Church. Velina enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Velina’s family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Elmira Mennonite Church, 58 Church St. W., Elmira with interment and reception to follow. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed through the funeral home website. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian MS Society, or the Mennonite Central Committee through the funeral home.
