Obituary
Valorie Anne Tilley passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, August 31st, 2023, at the Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound just weeks short of her 68th birthday.
Valorie was born in Dorval, Quebec on September 24th, 1955, to her parents, Donald Wilson Walker, WWII veteran (deceased in 2014) and Dorothy Jane Walker (nee Woods), who enjoyed a passion for the arts (deceased in 2021). Val was a dedicated and self-sacrificing daughter who provided loving and attentive care for both her mother’s and father’s end of life needs.
Val is survived by her partner, John Bell, who bravely supported her 19 month journey with cancer. They shared many happy and challenging experiences during all their years together.
She is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her brother Gregory Wilson Walker, his wife, Muriel Ann Walker (nee Ferguson), and their children, her nieces, Jaimie Lynn (Jacob), Justine Georgina (John), Caitlyn Anne (Zach) and her nephew, Graeme Wilson. She will be remembered to her young grand nephews, Brody and Kai, and her grand niece, Lilyanna, through all our memories and stories.
The Bell family of Ruth and Henri Asselin, David and Janice Bell (Daniel, Benjamin and Samuel), Carol and Craig Beattie (Liam, Meagan, Catherine, Jack) and Grace Grieve (David, John) wish to recognize their beautiful sister-in-law and loving auntie for
her joy of life, appreciation of creation, her delicious Caesar salad and her devotion and love for our brother and uncle, John. She will be sorely missed, especially at the family gatherings.
Val’s love of horses, dogs, all creatures, all nature, laughing and environmental causes is exceeded only by her loyalty and faithfulness to her family and her many special lifelong friends.
She loved the outdoors and everything it had to offer including hiking and taking her dogs for long and tranquil walks. Time spent in British Columbia was a highlight in her life as she loved the immense beauty of its natural environment.
Her most noteworthy distinctive is that despite any heartaches, she was always able to love more, give the benefit of the doubt, smile wider, and press forward with gratitude.
On Val’s birthday, September 24th, 2023, at 2:00pm there will be a celebration of life service at the Royal Canadian Legion, Lion’s Head Branch 202, 6 Hellyer Road Northern Bruce Peninsula, Lion’s Head, ON
In keeping with her passion for life, liberty and the freedom of being a contributing Canadian citizen, Val’s only request would be for you to plant a tree in her memory.
