In Loving Memory of Ursula Nietsch (nee Burkart)
5 September 1935 – 28 January 2024
Ursula died in her 88th year peacefully in her sleep at Case Manor Care Community in Bobcaygeon.
Ursula was born in Berlin in 1935 and after surviving the war in the heart of Germany, she trained and worked as a registered nurse in England before moving to Canada. She continued her health care career in Toronto at East York General Hospital. She married Victor Nietsch in 1961 and while raising their family and continuing to work, they built their dream home outside the city, near Kinmount, Ontario.
After Victor died, Ursula continued to live “up north” as the home was affectionately called, where she embraced living in the area. She hosted family and friends, had countless memorable Christmas celebrations. One of her rambunctious grandsons would visit most weekends while they were growing up and “Oma” fostered in them a love of the outdoors, learning german baking and music.
Ursula truly believed in the power of music and song to feel, heal and connect. She was a treasured member of the United Churches of Kinmount and Bobcaygeon. She enriched the lives of many family and friends through the joy of music especially her accordion playing. Ursula, Mom and Oma will be greatly missed by her daughters Brigitte (Bruce) and Colleen (Andrew), along with her three grandsons, Justin (Charlotte), Andrew Paul (Sarah), and Adam (Heather). She will also be missed by her siblings, Christa, Peter, Barbara and their families.
It was Ursula’s wish to have her celebration of life at the Kinmount United Church, 15 Cluxton St., Kinmount, Ontario K0M 2A0, on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kinmount United Church or Covenant House in Toronto and be arranged through Gordon A. Monk Funeral Home Ltd., P.O. Box 427, Minden, Ontario K0M 2K0.
