It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Una Mabel Roberts at the Carbonear General Hospital in the presence of her loving family, on June 1st, 2023, at the age of 91.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Norman Oldford, parents Thomas & Pearl Cave, and sisters, Shirley Bishop and Joyce Kelloway.
Leaving to mourn with fond and cherished memories her loving husband of 15 years Edward Roberts of Brigus, NL. Sons: Paul (Erma), David, and her daughter Judy (Kevin). Also, her precious grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart, Jackie, Kelly, Ashlee (Ryan), Erika (Leeshaye), Erin (Stephen), Katherine, Dixon and Raquel. Step-children Debbie (Dave), Glenn (Betty-Ann), Todd (Denise) and Ricky (Lisa). As well as Edward’s grandchildren, whom she loved as her own Courtney, Nicholas, Edward (Lindsay), Michael, Brittany (Cameron), Teisha (Robbie), Jalisa (Brycii), Emily (Reilly), Kalan, and Hannah. As well as her great-grandchildren Allison, Vincent, Millan, Kendra, Jocelyn, and Carter. As well as special friends Shirley Kelloway, Nancy Noseworthy, Mary Oldford and Beryl Benson. Along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Born and raised in St. John’s, before Una was a dedicated mother and wife, she spent many years working at Crosby’s and Johnson’s Insurance in St. John’s and was a loyal and valued member of their team. Simply put, to know her was to love her. Una had an infectious smile that could light up any room she entered. She was an avid traveller, lover of the beaches and sun, a good game of cards, line-dancing and baking. Above all else, what she held dear was spending time with her family and friends.
After the passing of her late husband, Norman, Una was lucky enough to find love again with Edward Roberts. The two married in 2008 and spent the last 15 years residing together in Brigus. Una made friendships wherever she went and spent most of her years in Brigus involved in the senior’s club, playing card games with family, attending church services and spending time with her beloved Ed. She loved him with her whole heart. All will dearly miss her, and her love will last a lifetime.
Special thanks to Melanie Ryan, Lisa and Emily Roberts, as well as the Palliative Care Team at Carbonear General Hospital. The family will receive visitors at Broughton’s Funeral Home, 17 Station Road Brigus, NL on Saturday June 3rd from 10-12, 2-5, and 7-9 as well as Sunday June 4th from 10-12. Funeral service will be held at Broughton’s Chapel on June 4th at 2:00pm. A celebration of life will take place at the Church of the Good Shepherd 111 Richard Nolan Drive, Mount Pearl, NL, on Saturday June 17th, 2023 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brigus United Church and the Alzheimer’s Society.
